Weight Loss

Studies have shown that 30 minutes of far infrared sauna therapy can burn up to 600 calories; whilst experiencing far infrared heat the body works to cool itself through perspiration. This causes a substantial increase in heart rate, cardiac output and metabolic rate, which according to the American Medical Association results in the body burning approximately 0.6 kcal per gram of sweat produced.
It’s no secret that maintaining a healthy weight is essential for our overall health and wellbeing, a ten-year long study published by The New England Journal of Medicine found that waist circumference itself is a critical factor in assessing the risk of premature death, quite simply.. if you can maintain a healthy weight, you increase your likelihood of a longer, healthier life.

The American Medical Association

The prestigious Journal of the American Medical Association reported the following; “many of us who run do so to place a demand on our cardiovascular system, not to build big leg muscles. Regular use of a sauna imparts a similar stress on the cardiovascular system, and its regular use may be as effective at cardiovascular conditioning and burning of calories as regular exercise.”

nasa_logoExtensive research by NASA led to the conclusion that far infrared stimulation of cardiovascular function would be the ideal way to maintain cardiovascular conditioning in American astronauts during long space flights.

Detox and weight loss

There’s a growing belief that many of todays obesity problems are caused by a build-up of toxic substances in the body, including carcinogenic heavy metals such as mercury, lead, cadmium and aluminium, responsible for metabolic imbalances that cause poor digestion and weight gain.

Far infrared sauna therapy expands clogged capillary vessels and initiates the start of a process to dissolve these hidden toxins.

Detoxification

We live in an increasingly toxic world; the WHO, (World Health Organisation), claims that 95% of all disease can be attributed to our diet and environment. According to Dr Anna Rogers, author of Detoxify or Die, the only proven way to remove the worst of these toxins is through far infrared sauna heat therapy.

Doctors and scientist alike believe that many of todays illnesses are caused by a build-up of toxic substances in the body, including the following, carcinogenic heavy metals such as mercury, lead, cadmium and aluminium, responsible for metabolic imbalances that cause poor digestion and weight gain, toxic gases including sulphur, arsenic and formaldehyde, subcutaneous fat associated with aging and fatigue, lactic acids, free fatty acids and cholesterol, excess sodium associated with hypertension and uric acid which causes pain.

According to Dr Steve Nugent our cells contain over 400 new toxins today that didn’t even exist 45 years ago and we are losing the battle, therefore it’s becoming increasingly vital for us to find additional resources to purge these toxins and rid them of our bodies.. such as far infrared sauna therapy.

Scientists in Japan report that far infrared treatment expands clogged capillary vessels and initiates the start of a process to dissolve hidden toxins, helping purify the cells and flush our body of waste and harmful toxins.

This process happens when the body’s tissues are subjected to far infrared radiation at a wavelength of 9.4 microns, this causes the water molecules within our cells to resonate and initiates the release of cellular toxins such as heavy metals, toxic gases, substances from processed foods, lactic acids, free fatty acids and cholesterol.

Raycare’s Carboncare 360™ multi-patented carbon fibre heating panels have been designed to radiate far infrared energy at this optimum wavelength, thus maximising the many benefits that far infrared therapy offers.

It’s estimated that the average person expels 20% toxins and 80% water whilst under far infrared heat.. remarkable when compared with a traditional sauna where the average is only 3% toxins and 97% water!

Far Infrared heat also promotes the killing of many pathogenic (disease causing) bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites.

Skin Purification

Skin Care

Regular far infrared sauna therapy keeps your skin looking radiant and firm, it reduces wrinkles by improving skin tone, texture and elasticity and helps reduce cellulite trapped beneath the skin. Furthermore it promotes protein syntheses and increased cell re-production, all necessary for tissue repair and regeneration, thus aiding the treatment of burns, scar tissue and skin conditions, including acne, eczema and psoriasis.. it’s like having your very own personal spa!

Skin rejuvenation

Research carried out for N.A.S.A. by Dr Harry Whelan at the University of Wisconsin demonstrated that infrared light increased cellular energy and accelerated healing, furthermore, cells exposed to infrared light developed at twice the rate of average. Dr David Goldberg notes that infrared light promotes the formation of collagen which helps smooth wrinkled skin stating that; “whilst you’re not going to turn the clock back forty years it’s very clear that you can make people look younger and more vibrant”.

Eczema & Psoriasis

Infrared therapy has proven beneficial in the treatment of both eczema and psoriasis. The increased circulation delivers blood rich in both nutrients and oxygen to the cells, aiding regeneration. The rise in body temperature purges clogged pores of deeply imbedded impurities and dead skin cells whilst the reduction of toxins helps reduce the associated inflammation and itching, and being a totally natural phenomenon you’ll experience none of the side effects associated with the emollients, lubricating ointments or steroid creams commonly used to treat these conditions.

Stress can also be a contributory factor for eczema and psoriasis and after a hard day there’s no better way to unwind than in your very own Raycare far infrared sauna, the gentle heat produced by Raycare’s Carboncare 360™ emitters will sooth both body and soul, relieving aches and pains and clearing the mind.. it’s like relaxing in the sun without any of the associated risks.

According to the BMA (British Medical Association) a large proportion of illness can be attributed to stress and it is therefore very important for us to find an enjoyable and effective way of dealing with the ever increasing pressures of day to day life, such as… far infrared sauna therapy. After a hard days work there’s no better way to unwind than in your very own Raycare far infrared sauna, the gentle heat produced by Raycare’s Carboncare 360™ emitters will sooth both body and soul, relieving aches and pains and clearing the mind.. it’s like relaxing in the sun without any of the associated risks!

Researchers studying HRP (Heat Responsive Pain) have observed remarkable therapeutic benefits by using continuous low level heat therapy for treating pain associated with back problems, fibromyalgia, arthritis, CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome), sprains, neuralgia, bursitis, muscle spasms, joint stiffness and many other musculoskeletal related ailments.

Far infrared heat penetrates deep within the body to gently warm muscle tissue and increase flexibility and range of motion, thus alleviating much of the stiffness, aches and pains associated with aging or excessive exercise. The increase in temperature also causes peripheral blood vessels to dilate, increasing circulation and delivering oxygen rich blood to where it’s needed most, aiding muscle regeneration and soft tissue repair.

Pain ReliefRheumatoid Arthritis & Ankylosing Spondylitis

Far infrared sauna therapy is becoming widely recognised as an effective way of providing pain relief for sufferers of RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis) and AS (Ankylosing Spondylitis) with research demonstrating that far infrared therapy is of real benefit in reducing pain, stiffness and fatigue.

Arthritis Research Campaign

A spokesman for the Arthritis Research Campaign said that infrared sauna therapy offered short-term pain relief, and that patients with inflammatory forms of arthritis may find it worth trying as an adjunct to painkillers and other medication.

Journal of Clinical Rheumatology

The Journal of Clinical Rheumatology has also published new research to show that Infrared sauna therapy helps to reduces pain and stiffness in those suffering from rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis.

Saxion University of Applied Sciences

A recent study has been conducted by the Saxion University of Applied Sciences at Enschede in the Netherlands to determine the effects of far infrared sauna therapy on those suffering from RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis) and AS (Ankylosing Spondylitis). The conclusion reached was that in all patients a clinically relevant improvement was seen during treatment, with pain and stiffness decreasing by up to 24 points on the VAS, (Visual Analogue Scale), meaning that patients with RA and SA saw a respective reduction in pain of 40% and 60%, and a reduction in stiffness of 50% and 60%.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Studies carried out at the Masuda Clinic, Japan, have shown that the use of an infrared sauna may help to alleviate the condition of chronic fatigue syndrome, with patients showing a dramatic reduction in fatigue, pain and low grade fever.

Patients suffering from mild depression also appeared to benefit from the relaxing effects of far infrared therapy with a notable reduction in loss of appetite and general ailments.

The conclusion of the study was that the repeated use of an infrared sauna may be a promising method for the treatment of CFS.

Other studies have revealed that patients with CFS who have failed to respond to Prednisolone (a drug used for the treatment of a wide range of inflammatory and auto-immune conditions) have responded favourably to far infrared therapy. Symptoms such as fatigue, pain, sleep disturbance, and low-grade fever were dramatically improved after 15 to 25 sessions of far infrared therapy, and with continued use the subjects showed no relapse or exacerbation of symptoms.

Improved CirculationLower Blood Pressure

Clinical studies have shown that 30 minutes of far infrared sauna therapy three times a week has been beneficial in lowering blood pressure, whilst at the same time helping to improve impaired blood vessel function in patients with high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol.

According to the Department of Cardiology, Respiratory and Metabolic Medicine at Kagoshima University Japan, repeated sauna therapy may protect against oxidative stress, a major cause of atherosclerosis.

Atherosclerosis, also known as arteriosclerotic vascular disease (ASVD), is a condition in which an artery wall thickens as the result of a build-up of fatty materials such as cholesterol.

Improved circulation

Far infrared heat increases the extensibility of collagen tissues and capillaries resulting in a similar increase in blood flow and oxygenation to that seen during vigorous exercise.

Far Infrared therapy also strengthens the Immune System by stimulating the increased production of white blood cells (leukocytes) by the bone marrow and killer T-cells by the thymus.
